Sagi Ziporen // Signs of life

‏In his graduation collection, titled “signs of life”, Sagi examines the possibility of an “eternal” relationship between a person and their clothing. In a culture of single use fashion, based on hasty buying habits and clothes for rent, Sagi wishes to ask: Can a piece of clothing go through a full and dynamic life journey without being replaced at the very first opportunity with a new item? This menswear  RTW  collection seeks to glorify the aesthetics of time and the marks it leaves on our garments. Folding, ironing, fading colors, dust accumulation, ink and oil stains all of these served as inspiration for the designs. The clothes carry traces of details that are no longer there. The silhouettes were created following a narrative of three "chapters" in the story of a person and their garments: the interaction in the act of getting dressed; the continuous use of a garment despite the changes in body shape over the years; and the deformation and thinning of the fabric as a result of multiple washes. The tones of the collection are muted and dusty, reflecting the fading of color over time. Sagi developed various unique fabric manipulations, such as washing, oil stamping and air-brushing to achieve the effects of time.
